|
Primary biliary cirrhosis is a chronic, progressive live disease of unknown etiology that is characterized by inflammatory destruction of intrahepatic bile ducts and by association of multiple autoimmune disease. Ten cases of primary biliary
cirrhosis
were reported so far in Korea. None of these was associated with pleural effusion. We experienced a case of a 68-year old female with primary biliary cirrhosis with unexplained pleural effusion who has suffered from pruritus, generalized weakness
and
dyspnea. She treated with pleurodesis, cholestyramine and ursodeoxycholic acid we report a case of primary biliary cirrhosis with pleural effusion. (Korean J Gastroenterol 1994 ; 26 : 378-383)
